From last week’s Dancing with the Stars. Two 13-year-olds dance an impressive Paso Doble. If the video starts and stops a little, let it run to completion and then watch it a second time so you can see how seamlessly one figure flows into the next, especially at the end.

On PBS starting Jan. 30, 2008:

AMERICA’S BALLROOM CHALLENGE returns for a third season on PBS with five one-hour episodes. Shot in high definition at the world’s largest ballroom dancing competition, the OHIO STAR BALL in Columbus, Ohio,  AMERICA‘S BALLROOM CHALLENGE airs for 5 consecutive Wednesdays, January 30 through February 27, from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m., on Channel 11.

Hosted by actress and dancer Jasmine Guy and seven-time U.S. National Latin Dance Champion Ron Montez, AMERICA’S BALLROOM CHALLENGE once again takes viewers onto the dance floor and behind the scenes as 24 world-class couples compete for the ultimate dance title. Each of the first four programs will focus on one of the four major styles of competitive ballroom dancing: American Smooth, American Rhythm, International Standard and International Latin. The six finalists in each style will first compete as a group, performing the five standard dances in the category, with expert judges scoring their performances. Then the dancers will have an opportunity to shine, performing a show dance solo. Each program will end with the crowning of one couple, named champions in that style.

In the fifth and final program, the four champions will compete across dance styles for the coveted title, with each couple performing two pull-out-all-the-stops solos.

Only one couple will be named “AMERICA’S BEST.”

Dancing with the stars has had four perfect scores this season.

We started with two sambas:

Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough

Laila Ali and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Then a third star got a 30 for his Jive:

Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson

And last week Apolo and Julianne got a second perfect score for their Paso Doble:

Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough

I think all three of these couples have a shot at winning. What do you think? You have an advantage: I haven’t seen tonight’s show yet.

Dancing with the Stars returns this Monday at 7 pm, on channel 7.

For Rebecca: Willa Ford and Maksim Chmerkovskiy dancing the Rumba (from week 5 of Dancing with the Stars).

First dance of the Season 3 finale of Dancing with the Stars.
