Mary Hoedeman is

coming to Naperville

And we’re having our

parking lot party!

Mary Hoedeman, Internationally known Master Instructor is fond of saying “Dancing is easy, when you know how.”

Now there’s a concept!

Here’s another one….Now Mary has created a dance packed with the ‘know how’ for line dancers and couples dancers, in country, swing and ballroom too . As you use this dance as a training tool you’ll learn to improve your individual movements and all the skills needed to dance in a partnership.

Side by side

Learning to do one thing well at a time is the most effective and efficient road to achievement. All champions like Mary know this. Mary’s new dance is your ‘one thing’. Learn it well and dancing will become easy for you too!

As an added bonus attend May’s Dance Camp where you’ll train with others using the same dance tool before displaying your skills as you perform the dance for an amazed public. Then you’ll be saying “Dancing is easy …because I learned how”.

The Dance is part Night Club, part East Coast Swing

IN ADDITION……

Two Left Feet Dance Clubs will be hosting its annual parking lot party and cookout

Freddy “Elliot” Dangoy, a black belt in karate, is offering instruction in self-defense Mondays from 6 to 7 pm. Price to be determined.

Amanda Donofrio will be offering hatha yoga classes at the studio, $15 per one hour class. Day/time to be determined.

Pamm will teach beginner swing again on Fridays at 7:30 pm, starting 6/6.  The cost is $46 per student for four one-hour group classes.

Also starting 6/6/08 at 7:30 pm, Sheila will be teaching a “potluck” beginner ballroom & latin class.  The cost for this class will be just $20 for 4 weeks. “Potluck” means Sheila won’t be following a predetermined schedule; on a given evening she may give a lesson on any of the dances taught at Two Left Feet. You can join this class any week.

One of our students writes…

Hi Pamm,

It was GREAT to see you last night.

Well …. ? What’s your thoughts? How was it? Will you be doing this again? Perhaps on a weekly basis?

Carl has the potential of attracting whole different crowd of students - dancers. I was surprised that there were not more of “Carl fans” there. But Carl’s Internet site was not user friendly to knowing of this dance opportunity. Carl would have to put a little effort in getting the word out. He should be doing emails and had started an electronic newsletter that hasn’t gotten regular.

Having it at 7:30 at 2LF can work for those who want to go to Frankie’s afterwards.

Note: Carl does not now support or encourage anyone’s attendance at Frankie’s. And this can be an issue of attracting intermediate swing dancers to a Wednesday night Carl class. There is some real warfare going on between Carl and Frankie’s that denies a natural synergism that should exist. Too bad!

Another issue with an evening Carl class is that it could compete with his Sunday classes. Myself, I would prefer an evening class. It seems that Carl’s Sunday classes attract slight more dedicated students.

IF you go forward with Carl on Wednesday nights, I suggest it be a basic- intermediate class (not a beginner). Of course, it could look like a line up of Carl’s Sunday classes (10am beginner, 11am basic, and 12pm Intermediate, 12pm practice session). Carl’s definition of basic swing (my words in his mouth) is someone with 3-6 months of previous beginner lessons.

It could be cool to have Wednesday lesson(s) and then followed by a practice session. Leaving open the opportunity to go to Frankie’s afterwards.

Tim

Any comments? Any other reaction to Carl’s class?

swing Too cool

Put a little glide in your stride with swing steps from Carl Linder

Swing is evolving and the high-energy, jivey style that some of us are more familiar with is giving way to a mellower, bluesier, more grounded version of the dance.  Two Left Feet is proud to offer a swing dance lesson by Carl Linder.  Carl has taught swing for several years at various venues, including Frankie’s Blue Room. He is well known for his ability to break down any dance movement for any student at any level. Carl’s zany personality while on the teaching floor is another reason for the immense popularity of his lessons.

Date: Wednesday, November 14
Time: 7:30 - 8:30 pm
Place: Two Left Feet
Cost: $11

Bring your friends.  This is sure to be a fun event.

Dancing with the stars has had four perfect scores this season.

We started with two sambas:

Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough

Laila Ali and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Then a third star got a 30 for his Jive:

Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson

And last week Apolo and Julianne got a second perfect score for their Paso Doble:

Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough

I think all three of these couples have a shot at winning. What do you think? You have an advantage: I haven’t seen tonight’s show yet.
