One of our students writes…
Hi Pamm,
It was GREAT to see you last night.
Well …. ? What’s your thoughts? How was it? Will you be doing this again? Perhaps on a weekly basis?
Carl has the potential of attracting whole different crowd of students - dancers. I was surprised that there were not more of “Carl fans” there. But Carl’s Internet site was not user friendly to knowing of this dance opportunity. Carl would have to put a little effort in getting the word out. He should be doing emails and had started an electronic newsletter that hasn’t gotten regular.
Having it at 7:30 at 2LF can work for those who want to go to Frankie’s afterwards.
Note: Carl does not now support or encourage anyone’s attendance at Frankie’s. And this can be an issue of attracting intermediate swing dancers to a Wednesday night Carl class. There is some real warfare going on between Carl and Frankie’s that denies a natural synergism that should exist. Too bad!
Another issue with an evening Carl class is that it could compete with his Sunday classes. Myself, I would prefer an evening class. It seems that Carl’s Sunday classes attract slight more dedicated students.
IF you go forward with Carl on Wednesday nights, I suggest it be a basic- intermediate class (not a beginner). Of course, it could look like a line up of Carl’s Sunday classes (10am beginner, 11am basic, and 12pm Intermediate, 12pm practice session). Carl’s definition of basic swing (my words in his mouth) is someone with 3-6 months of previous beginner lessons.
It could be cool to have Wednesday lesson(s) and then followed by a practice session. Leaving open the opportunity to go to Frankie’s afterwards.
Tim
Any comments? Any other reaction to Carl’s class?

hey pamm
two cool! i too attend’d wed swing class and felt it was well worth the effort and minimal fee for carl and karrie. where else ya gonna go and really get the attention those teach’s gave us for what was really an extended lesson (well, except for u of course:). the turn out was decent and next time with a little more spreadin the word will be even better, maybe throw a note in the college newsletter. i had done a couple a lessons at frankies with them and as far as i see you could steal the whole show: lock, stock and roll out the barrel in your studio — “poor frankies” should have known better; ( i look forward to you makin this a regular event and “i shall return” )
